The rap star said in a radio interview that he’s done a lot of reflecting since being tossed into Rikers in March on a gun charge.

“Everybody says that you’re here for a reason,” he told Hot 97 from jail on Tuesday. “I search for that reason every day.”

The multiplatinum “Lollipop” singer said he has learned from the crime that landed him behind bars.

“I’m gonna move more carefully and be aware of my situation and status,” he said.

Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was arrested in 2007 after Manhattan cops spotted him smoking marijuana and found he was carrying a .40-caliber weapon.

He pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in October 2009 and was sentenced to a year in Rikers in March.

The Grammy winner is scheduled to be released in November.

The rapper said he spends his days reading and responding to fan mail, calling his family and other rappers, including Drake and Nicki Minaj.

“I could read all the fan mail I get all day, every day,” he said.

The New Orleans native said conditions in Rikers were worse than he expected, but he is trying to make the best of the situation.

“[The food here] is not what I want,” he said. “But it is what it is.”

Lil Wane’s finances seem to be in a little disarray while he finishes up his jail bid.

According to The Detroit News, the IRS filed a $1.13 million tax lien against Weezy last month.

Wayne previously had a tax problem in 2008 but quickly took care of the matter by paying $977,840.

The lien for $1,138,760 was filed on June 3rd in Dade County, Florida Circuit Court and he appears to owe for 2004, 2005 and 2007.

For some reason, I doubt this is a serious as it sounds. He’ll probably pay that off with the first month sales of Drake’s “Thank Me Later” release.

Despite being incarcerated at Rikers Island prison in New York, Lil Wayne has just been sentenced for a drug charge in Arizona.

As previously reported Lil Wayne pleaded guilty earlier this month to one count of possession of a dangerous drug stemming from a 2008 incident in Yuma, Arizona where authorities found cocaine, ecstasy and a loaded handgun on his tour bus.

Now after deliberation a judge granted him three years probation which he will begin immediately after he’s released from prison in November.

Lil Wayne’s guilty plea was part of a plea deal with prosecutors that dropped additional charges of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, misconduct involving weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wayne’s Arizona attorney James Tilson says he‘s pleased with the verdict and told Reuters,

“We’re quite glad that we were able to wrap everything up. It’s a favorable plea agreement that will allow Mr. Carter to pursue his career.”

One day after after millions of men celebrated Father’s Day, one dad in particular was not allowed to see their oldest child.

Antonia “Toya” Carter is confirming reports that she did not let her 12-year-old daughter visit her father Lil Wayne at Rikers Island prison and in fact, doesn’t allow her to visit him at all.

Reginae Carter is the oldest of Lil Wayne’s four children by four different women and according to her mother Toya, she will never visit the New York prison where her father is incarcerated.

Speaking in an interview with VIBE, Toya tells the publication that Reginae’s not allowed to visit the facility, a decision she and Wayne made together.

“That’s no place for a kid to go. [Wayne and I] just decided not to let her go [to Riker’s Island] period. She’s never been. He makes sure he talks to his daughter every day, talking and writing is enough.”

Toya also adds that although Reginae’s not allowed inside, she prepared Father’s Day gifts for Lil Wayne that she would deliver before the mother and daughter duo spent the holiday together.

“[Reginae’s] writing her father a letter and she took pictures for him. When I go visit, I’ll bring it to him,” says Toya. We may spend [the day] with my father or just together.”

HE SAYS:

“I’m coolin’…I’ll be home soon. If you worryin’, don’t worry too much but if you ain’t worried than something’s wrong.”
